Alaska Cruise-Tour May 2025
(Part 8)

Days10 & 11- Ketchikan, and Cruising the Inside Passage

The weather continued to get worse as we headed further south. In fact, the wind and waves were so bad, we skipped Ketchikan completely. We found out after our return home that the next day, at least one ship broke free from its moorings in Ketchikan the day after we canceled.  So, it was for the best that the Captain didn't attempt to make it.

That left us with 2 sea days to end our cruise. We did a little gambling in the casino, and a lot of relaxing and catching up on movies we had had not seen. Among the movies we saw were Oppenheimer, A Bridge of Spies,  Conclave, and a number of older Tom Hanks movies. The land tour before the cruise was so exhausting, we were very happy to spend this time by ourselves relaxing. I cannot imagine doing this tour in the reverse order, and doing the cruise first.

Day 12 - Vancouver to Seattle

The weather finally cleared by the time we got to Vancouver.  We had breakfast in the dining room and then were able to get off the ship right away. We  caught a taxi to the Rail Station, as we booked with Amtrak to go to Seattle. While they only have 1 or 2 trains per day, they also have bus service, and that is what we were booked on.  Other than the driver complaining that people had too much luggage for a bus trip, the ride was uneventful, including clearing customs at the US / Canada border. We had a nice view of the countryside.

Upon arrival at King Street Station in Seattle, we needed to find a way to get to SeaTac airport to pick up our rental car. There was a guy there not affiliated with any of the rideshare services that offered to take us and our luggage for $50. My wife decided he looked trustworthy enough we went for it, and it worked out great. We were dropped off at the curb of the rental facility, and Jean waited there with the luggage while I went to get the car.  From there we went back to Seattle proper to check-in to our hotel. About dinner time we headed back toward the airport to do dinner in that area while we waited for our daughter Amanda's flight to arrive.  We chose the 13 Coins restaurant and that was a good decision. The food was very good.

Amanda joined us to tour Seattle and go to the Mariners- O's game. She now has only 4 MLB parks to visit to complete the circuit of all 30 parks.
